Michele Cirillo - Autoritratto

Born in 1988, I am an independent photographer and videomaker, lecturer and popularizer of visual communication strategies.

In 2013 I graduated in Education and Training, continuing my studies with a Masters in Geopolitics and a course in investigative journalism designed by Columbia University. In 2017 I won a scholarship for the Masters in Photojournalism at the "Centro Sperimentale di Fotografia ADAMS" and in 2019 I was selected for the artistic residence ThePhotoSolstice#2 at Asinara Island.

In recent years, my interest in photographic stories has focused on the issues of human rights, identity and geopolitical changes in recent years, preferring subjects and stories from ethnic or cultural minorities.
I have collaborated with various Italian and foreign newsrooms and magazines such as Internationale, Swiss Radio Television, Repubblica, Vanity Fair, LifeGate, Narratively.
In 2017 my work "The Kurdish Bride" was exhibited at the Hermitage in St. Petersburg.
In 2019 I produced my first photo book "Insulae", a 4-year artistic documentary project dedicated to the theme of the Roman housing emergency.
